Our Favourite Route in Port De Pollenca

A LONG RIDE TO DEIA

The ride to Deia is tough around Fornalutx, where you can stop for a mid-morning coffee. Again, an early start will get you through the busy roads. With an early lunch in Deia, make sure you stop at the Mirador de Tudons or Mirador des Guix. From here you get a spectacular view of the sea and the mountains.

The last 80km’s is through quieter countryside and mainly downhill. Be sure to stop for a coffee or a snack in The town of Valldemossa. Perched on a hilltop, surrounded by terraced terrain, Valldemossa was named after the area’s original Moorish landowner, Muza.

Typical Port De Pollenca Trip Itinerary

Note: this is a sample itinerary only, and GoBike will work with you and your group to build an itinerary to suit your requirements.

  • A short, sharp trip to the Lighthouse. 3 hours with a swim in a highly scenic location. Past Es Colomer and a number of brilliant beaches. Bring a light towel and swimming trunks.

Back to the hotel early and you can hike cami Boqueur or the foot and cycle path extends for many kilometres around the bay, however it only becomes car-free just north of the marina where the pedestrianised Passeig Vora Mar begins. This is also the start of the resort’s famous Pine Walk, so-named thanks to the abundance of mature conifers that line much of the route.

Enjoy a drink tonight but not too many as tomorrow is a tough day in the saddle and you need to be ready.

  • A brilliant day with the highlight being a full view of the Sa Colabra. This is a 115 km (2000m Altitude Gain) day ride with amazing climbs and a descent into Lluc and back via the coastal road from Alcudia.

And get ready for the cars if you go to Sa Colabra during any peak times. We recommend finding a quiet time to make the climb. If you can leave the hotel by 7.30am you can get there before the Buses and the crowds. That is the way to see it if you can make Sa Colabra by 10.30 and get down to Lluc for lunch at the Sancturia and away towards Crestatx for a afternoon coffee. The roads around Sa Pobla will be quieter.

This ride should have you back in your hotel for 4pm and perfect time to take a swim and maybe a massage either in Kenso massage or in Mar Senses..

  • Surrounded by the towering peaks of the Tramuntana mountain range, this quaint Mallorcan village of Deia nestles between the sea and the mountains. The village was made famous by Robert Graves, the author of ‘I, Claudius’. His house in Deia was a mecca for artists and writers who were all stunned by the beauty of the village and the surrounding scenery.

Perched on a hilltop, surrounded by terraced terrain, Valldemossa was named after the area’s original Moorish landowner, Muza. With its car-free cobbled alleys and rich cultural heritage, the town is a treat to visit. Be careful that you don’t fall on the cobble!

  • For those with an extra day a ride east to Arta into the hills in the morning and returning by the coast in the afternoon. This route will allow a later start and a less aggressive ride, even a slower pace if you wish. 100km with a relatively light 500m alt gain means you can take it easy.

As an alternative, if you have a later flight you could get out early 7.00am and be back in the hotel by 12.00 ready to hand back your bike and take the transport bus to the Airport, which takes less than an hour.

Take a quick swim on the sea to clean off the road and put your bike back in the box and back to reality after a 5 day adventure in Europe’s Sun Cycling Capital.
