Trip Highlights

Typical Andalucia Trip Itinerary

Note: this is a sample itinerary only, and GoBike will work with you and your group to build an itinerary to suit your requirements.

  • We will collect you from Málaga Airport and transfer you to Estepona.

  • Exploring the Hills of Estepona to Ronda: Today we leave the coast of Estepona and head inland in search of Ronda where we will spend the next 2 nights. Our first pass is Peñas Blancas, a very quiet road that will give us plenty of viewpoints where we will be able to appreciate the best views of the day. Once at the top, we will enjoy the descent through the chestnut trees to head towards our second climb of the day, shorter than the previous one, which will leave us very close to our lunch spot before facing the last part of the descent to Ronda.

    DISTANCE: 70kms

    ASCENT: 2,000m+

  • A Taste of Grazalema’s Natural Splendor: Our route today takes us into the Grazalema Natural Park. Although it seems hard to believe, this is the rainiest place on the peninsula (fingers crossed we avoid a downpour during our journey). A route that takes us through numerous small “Pueblos Blancos” where we will stop to taste some good Serrano ham and some of the best olive oil.

    DISTANCE: 110kms

    ASCENT: 2,100m+

  • Discovering Antequera’s Ancient Charms: We say goodbye to Ronda and head east in search of Antequera, another small but charming town. Several archaeological sites scattered around the village testify that the area has been habited for more than 6000 years. From its past, it preserves an extensive archaeological and architectural heritage, with the Menga, Viera and El Romeral dolmens standing out.

    DISTANCE: 145kms

    ASCENT: 2,300m+

  • The Long and Scenic Ride: Day 4 will be the longest day of the week but we will have a final reward. Another day full of white villages and incredible views around every bend. Once the route is finished we head to the Bodega Señorio de Nevada, our hotel for the night where we can enjoy a wine tasting before a tasty dinner.

    DISTANCE: 70kms

    ASCENT: 2,600m+

  • Riding the Famed Cabra Road: After a short transfer in our van, we will start the route along the «Carretera de la Cabra» (Goat Road). Nowadays it is a famous road used by cyclists to communicate the coast with the city of Granada. It was used even before 1940 by the few people who could afford a holiday in Almuñécar and its stone walls and tunnels were once dynamited by the brave roadmen of years ago.

    DISTANCE: 100kms

    ASCENT: 1,500m+

  • Conquering the Heights of Pico Veleta: For our last day we have left the ascent to the Pico Veleta which has the honour of being the highest asphalt road in Europe at 3367 metres above sea level. A tough route that will put the icing on the cake of a week of cycling in Andalucia that we are sure we will remember forever.

Thank you very much for an excellent week. It was brilliant but tough for me as well. It was an achievement for me to complete but the back up support was fantastic from all of you on your team. I would also like to mention about the hotel as well, I thought it was excellent and friendly. I must say I've felt the effects this week but slowly recovering but as they say no pain no gain!
