We will pick up the group at Ljubljana or Trieste airport and head directly to Bovec. Depending on the time of arrival, we will either settle in for the first night in Bovec or begin a scenic hike towards Kobarid. Bovec is known as the adventure capital of Slovenia, surrounded by the Julian Alps and the gorgeous Soca River. Everywhere you look in Bovec you will see people hiking, biking, climbing, or kayaking. In recent years, the area has become increasingly popular with advertisers and filmmakers; part of the Disney film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was shot here. The area received the European Destinations of Excellence award in 2008 with the Soča Stories project.

Kobarid is known for the 1917 Battle of Caporetto, where the Italian retreat was documented by Ernest Hemingway in his novel A Farewell to Arms. The battle is well documented in the museum in the centre of Kobarid. The museum won a Council of Europe award in 1993. The Tolmin Gorges are the lowest and probably the most beautiful entry point into the Triglav National Park. The circular path leads us through the wild gorges of Tolminka and Zadlascica, which merge into the only confluence in the gorges on the territory of Slovenia.

Rolling hills between the Soča River and the Italian border, Goriška Brda is known as one of Slovenia’s foremost wine-growing areas. Often described as a miniature version of Tuscany, every hill seems to be topped with a church surrounded by a charming little village, while the hillsides and valleys in between are blanketed with vineyards, orchards, and winding country roads. Visitors can embark on a wine safari, an exciting way to explore the region’s finest wineries while riding in an off-road vehicle through scenic vineyards and picturesque landscapes. The experience includes wine tastings, local delicacies, and stories from passionate winemakers who have been cultivating these lands for generations.
The tombs of the last members of the French royal family of the Bourbons can be found in the crypt of the church of Kostanjevica near Nova Gorica, Slovenia. These nobles were exiled from France in the revolution of 1830. When they died, they were buried here and for this reason Kostanjevica is known as the “Little St. Denis.”

The Rilke trail is a tourist trail, providing a scenic view of the Gulf of Trieste. It is named after the poet Rainer Maria Rilke who spent two years in Trieste and walked those cliffs very often. Fairy-tale style Miramare Castle dates back to the mid-19th century and was built at the request of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian Of Habsburg. Legend has it that Maximilian first fell in love with this place, which was then just a rocky promontory with no vegetation when he took shelter from a storm in the small harbour of Grignano. Trieste belonged as Triest to the Habsburg monarchy from 1382 until 1918. In the 19th century, the monarchy was one of the Great Powers of Europe and Trieste was its most important seaport. As a prosperous trading hub in the Mediterranean region, Trieste grew to become the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after Vienna, Budapest, and Prague). At the turn of the 20th century, it emerged as an important hub for literature and music. The city lies at the intersection of Latin, Slavic and Germanic cultures, where Central Europe meets the Mediterranean Sea, and is home to diverse ethnic groups and religious communities. A scholarly area, Trieste has the highest percentage of researchers, per capita, in Europe.[4] Città della Barcolana ("City of the Barcolana"), Città della bora ("City of the bora"), Città del vento ("City of Wind"), "Vienna by the sea" and "City of Coffee" are epithets used to describe Trieste

Along the way, hikers will discover Waterfall Supet, the dramatic walls of the Karst edge, and remnants of a former Roman aqueduct, all surrounded by lush greenery. Passing through charming villages like Draga, Pesek, and Grozzana, the trail follows parts of an old railway route, offering a mix of history and nature. The journey leads to the breathtaking Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where visitors will explore one of Europe’s largest underground canyons. After the cave visit, the group will transfer to Ljubljana, where they can stroll through the old town, admire its elegant architecture, and enjoy a delicious dinner featuring local specialties. The night is spent in a comfortable hotel in the city, offering a perfect place to unwind after an adventurous journey. After a final breakfast in Ljubljana, the trip comes to an end, leaving travelers with unforgettable memories of Slovenia’s diverse landscapes and rich heritage.
