Typical Kerry Trip Itinerary
Note: this is a sample itinerary only, and GoBike will work with you and your group to build an itinerary to suit your requirements.
A short introduction to the spectacular Kerry scenery rolling though the National Park via Molls Gap and the world famous Gap of Donloe. Day 1 is a half day stretching the legs. You could do some hiking in the afternoon. This is a relatively flat 50k ride out from Killarney. And will give you a good sense of what you can expect during the trip.
Day 2 is a long tide that is close to the well-known Ring of Kerry Cycle held every July. Skellig Michael is a Unesco World Heritage site (requires booking a long time in advance). But you can see if from the road at Ballinskelligs.
This is a long day of riding which will require an early start and good fitness levels. We recommend avoiding the full Ring of Kerry as it can be full of cars. This recommended route gets all the advantages of the Ring by going straight to Ballinskelligs and back via Sneem.
Lunch in Caherdaniel (just a few hundred metres off the Ring of Kerry) is the Caherdaniel Garden Centre, which is a great quick place to stop (beside the river) and a push on to Sneem for a coffee before a take the final climbs back into Killarney. What we suggest for the final day a ride to the southwestern edge of Ireland (Spanish Point). You move into the next County of Cork. This is a great mid-level ride through several scenic and nice towns: Kenmare, Bantry and Schull, which has a famous beach.
This is not a climbing free day, with over 1000m’s in altitude gain through the National Park and again between Kenmare to Bantry. You feel like you are on the edge of civilisation down in Crookhaven at the Lighthouse.
